Training & Mentoring
VIP volunteers are Very Important People! Without the services of our volunteers, we could not accomplish the work we do to secure equal access to justice for low-income Philadelphians.
VIP offers many supportive services to insure that our volunteers have all the training and mentoring needed to effectively represent a client.
Those services include:
- Assignment of co-counsel to a case
- Mentoring in specialized areas of the law
- Paralegals and law students available to assist attorneys
- CLE training seminars offered at no cost (in exchange for pro bono representation)
- Staff or volunteer foreign language interpreters
- Reduced rates for pro bono cases through the General Shorthand Reporters Association
- Use of VIP's resource library, both online and in print, including substantive training manuals written by experts in the field
VIP also sponsors signature events to train current volunteers and recruit new volunteers. Those signature events include:
- Corporate Pro Bono Day
- Pro Bono Opportunities Day
- Summer Pro Bono Program
